Regarding State Board Approval
Educational Training Specialists' trainings are all approved by the Arizona Board of Education. We have the additional designation as a training of trainers provider, which means that we can train others to train our trainings!
Hi, I hope you can help! I have a Arizona Provisional ElEd K-8 Certificate- dated 8/05 and it expires 8/07. Do you know if I am required to take both the 15 and the 45 hour SEI classes? If so, can I take the 45 before the 15? Thank you so much!

Hi, Gina,
You are required to take both the 15- and 45-hour courses. The 15-hour course is for the Provisional SEI Endorsement and the 45-hour course is for the Full SEI Endorsement. Anyone who was certified August 31, 2006 or before needs to take those two courses. They have a grace period of 1 calendar year to get this done - until August 31, 2007. After that, they will need to take the two 45-hour courses outlined below.
Anyone who was certified after August 31, 2006 needs an Augmented 45-hour course plus the 45-hour course for the Full SEI Endorsement.
You bring up a good point about taking the 15-hour course first. You, being in the position of not needing the course for initial certification, may take it in either order. It must be completed by your certificate's expiration date (inasmuch as your certificate expires in August, possibly before the August 31, 2007 deadline).
So, if a 45-hour course for the Full Endorsement appeals to you, take it in, say, June. Take our 15-hour course in July, and you'll be able to endorse your certificate with the Full SEI Endorsement upon your certificate's renewal!
Hope this helps!

Anne,
I am doing my student teaching in Jan. of 2007. I have just taken EDU220 which I believe is a 45 hour course. Do you offer the second 45 hour course that I need?
I'd like to get started right away.
Thanks!

I have an emergency provisional certificate. I need to take SEI as part of requirements to get certified in Arizona. I need 60 hours? How do I get these 60 hours? Do I need to take the 15 hour class somewhere first, then take a 3 semister class?
I keep getting different comments from people which has me wondering just what I need.

Hi, LaRoy,
If you have an emergency certificate because you are certified in another state, and were as of August 31, 2006, you will need 60 hours (15+45). It is my understanding that solely having emergency credentials does not qualify you for having to take the 15 hours. That is for any teacher certified as of August 31, 2006 in any state, and who wish to teach in Arizona.
If you were not certified in a state as of the August date, you will have to take two 45 hour courses - one for the Provisional SEI Endorsement, and one for the Full SEI Endorsement. In State of Arizona speak, they are referred to as the Augmented 45 (Provisional) and Completion 45 (Full). Currently we offer the 15 hour Provisional and the 45 for the Completion or Full Endorsement.
Hope this helps!

Hello.
I am interested in completing SEI training that would ultimately qualify me to train. I am fully endorsed in Bilingual Education and have taken various other training in SIOP, SEI and ELD. I am wondering if you can explain to me the options that your course can provide for me as far as train the trainer options.
Thank you
